The Home of
James Daniel (1747-1820)
and
Sarah "Sally" Cocke (b. 1755)

Located on Bess Daniel Road between Flat River Church Road and Highway 157 (where Bess Daniel Road crosses over to Payne's Tavern Road), north of Hurdle Mills.

According to Bess Daniel, who died in the 1980's, there is a corner stone in the house dated 1760 and the original wood floors are still there. Descendants lived here through Miss Bessie and she is the last person buried on the grounds. In the 1980s the house was occupied by a family named Stone. On my later trip in 2009, I found the house is now abandoned, falling down badly. What a loss!
