Tippah County Courthouse in Ripley MS

The marker says: "The original log courthouse was replaced in 1838 by a brick structure, which was burned by Union troops in 1864. A new courthouse was built in 1870 and renovated in 1928."

Stephen and Mary (Bell) Braddock came to Tippah in the late 1830s. Stephen died before this courthouse was built and Mary possibly saw it as it was being built. However, Adam and Alzire (Leak) Braddock lived here before and after it was built.
