Frederick County Mills: The following mill owners represented not only the area which is still in Frederick County, but also present day Clarke County, Va., plus a portion of Warrent County, Va., both of which were formed in 1836. County commissioners did not distinguish between grist and merchant mills. An 1820 map, by John Wood, shows the location of many of these mills. A copy is in the library of Congress, and in the Handley Library, Archives Section, Winchester, Va. The following list is for the 1813-14 period.

A record located in VA State Archives in Fredk "Inquisition of Dead Bodies" stated that Jacob Allemong was found dead along a roadside on Timber Ridge in Mar 1808, "in the 32 year of the Commonwealth." A jury, composed of neighbors, apptd to study cause of death, determined natural causes, "died by the visitation of God." Presiding JP John McCoole, jurors: Patrick Reynolds, Henry Heironimus, Thomas Collins, Reason Mason, Jacob Grove, Henry Grove, John Newland, Jacob Null, Patrick Reynolds, William Dawson, Joseph Ware, Samuel Wright, Jacob Heironimus. inquisition held 23 Mar 1808.
